Web Proxies that focus on internet traffic are called web proxy or internet proxy. Many web proxies attempt to block certain web content. Some web proxies change web pages for a specific purpose or client (e.g., mobile phones and Personal Digital Assistant or for people with disabilities).
Many organizations � including colleges, universities, schools, corporations, and countries � use proxy server to filter acceptable network use policies or to provide security, anti-spyware, and filter services. A traditional web proxy is not transparent to the client application, which must be configured to use the proxy (manually or with a configuration script). In some cases, where alternative means of connection to the Internet are available (e.g., a NAT server or SOCKS connection), the user might be able to avoid policy control by simply bypassing the client configuration and bypassing the proxy. Moreover, administration of browser config can be a burden for network administrators.
Access control: Some proxy servers implement a security logon requirement. In large corporates, employees must log on to gain access to the internet. The organization will then track traffic to individuals.
